About Daria’s Painted Rocks
Someone very dear to (my) Daria's heart was the reason I ever took a closer look into a rock painting. Right away, Daria was wholesomely hooked! 🙂 Ever since, I love painting on stones, pebbles and sea glass - more than anything!
Blank surface of every natural rock is one-and-only in its color, texture and shape, and has a unique story to tell. I admit, I am completely addicted to stone-painting, I just can't resist.
And that is also the reason why my painted rocks are not one of those mass-produced pieces that carry the exact same image. Every one of my stones is unique and there will never be another copy of it.
Each one of my rock paintings stays in the process of becoming for several days. It's an authentic Daria's way to apply multiple layers of paint and varnish. Afterwords, I let them dry thoroughly - before applying another coat.
My finishing touch is a couple of layers of glossy varnish. That makes Daria's painted stones outdoor friendly. The colors should not fade any time soon. However, that's the claim of manufacturers for the materials I'm using, not my own experience. Because so far I haven't had a chance to test-expose my finished products to years of any kind of weather conditions.
Note that I only use free-hand technique, meaning, every line of every image I draw/paint on the rock is there without any kind of guiding or measuring instruments. I simply let my imagination run free. Divine inspiration is my guide.
Daria's preferred painting and drawing/sketching materials: led or white pencil whenever I feel the need to sketch a new design first. Next comes a variety of paint brushes, markers, acrylic paints, inks and and varnish. Finished rocks are water resistant and can be cleaned (wiped off) with soft wet cloth.
The back of my painted stones stays blank most of the time, but not always. Artsy Daria gets carried away sometimes and just can't stop until the surface of a rock has a new color - all over. 😉
Nevertheless, I do add signature and website URL on the back whenever possible.
This description should help you better understand what you're getting for your money when you decide to purchase one of Daria's art pieces to fulfill your heart's desire: to gift it to someone, to decorate your own private living space, for your yard, for meditation, spiritual or superstition purposes. Maybe just because it resonates with your heart. Some of my rocks even proved to be a fun toy for toddlers and up. Do take a look around, I'll be adding new results of my inspiration frequently.
